On 18th February 2018, the Government published the consultation “Strengthening consumer redress in the housing market” following the Secretary of State’s commitment from November 2017 to explore options for improving consumer redress right across the housing sector in England.
The consultation invites feedback on proposals for bringing together existing redress schemes into a single housing ombudsman service for the private and regulated housing sectors. The basis of these proposals are to simplify access to redress. The consultation also invites feedback regarding specific issues experienced by tenants in the regulated housing sector in the forthcoming Government ‘Social Housing Green Paper’, to be published later this year.
A full copy of the consultation document is available here.
The deadline for individual responses to the consultation is 18 April 2018.
TAROE Trust will also be submitting a response to the consultation. If you would like to feed into our response, please let us know your views here by the end of March 2018 at the latest.
